The elves have gone on strike, my dear,
Said they’re tired of snow and ice.
Not to mention all the overtime
They can’t avoid this time of year.
Their contract could stand updating,
They’d like a better dental plan,
But most of all, what they really want
Is Santa’s workshop relocating.
Some place less white, some place with green.
They wouldn’t mind a sandy beach.
They claim all their toy-making skills
Will benefit from this change of scene.
But old Santa’s playing hardball,
Argues his overhead’s too high.
But he’s willing to revisit this
If things look better by next fall.
The elves said “No, we must refuse.”
Their picket line is standing firm.
And so, my dear, for Christmas this year,
Santa will be delivering IOUs.
