Rotted posts strung
With sagging barbed wire
All they fence in
Are wild tumbleweeds
DESERTED
Dust devils prowl empty streets
Fronted by faded facades
Windowless, weathered . . . waiting
For what will never return
DERELICT
Tumble-down gray line shack
Once a welcome shelter

Scorpions hide beneath
The rotting rope bed
Mice make their nest inside
A rusted coffee pot
Long gone the cowboys
Who once roamed this range
