The Gnome of Spring loves growing flowers
With stubby fingers he gently presses
Tiny seeds into warm, damp earth
Water and sun he carefully monitors
Letting no weeds gain a foothold here
Nor slugs and bugs find a tasty home
Sprouting infants are lovingly nurtured
Encouraged to reach, and climb, and spread
Each day brings joy to this patient guardian
As he watches his tiny charges flourish
Awaiting the moments when buds become blooms
Bringing forth a riot of color and scent
And a satisfied sigh from the Gnome of Spring
