POEM 1
Do trees spread news with rustling leaves
Or murmur messages through their roots
Do their branches shape a message
Are codes hidden in their bark
Perhaps their sap can transmit signals
Their smell create a telepathic link
I may never know the answer
But of one thing I am sure
The forest is never quiet
When trees decide to chat

POEM 2
Did you know that trees chatter
When no one is around
They love to tease squirrels
Harmonize with bird song
They bicker with the wood sprites
Tell bedtime stories to forest babes
And while they love good gossip
There are secrets that they keep
They will never rat on sasquatch
They’ve sworn to hide all faery homes
And as for Cooper hunters . . .
Well, that gives the trees a laugh
Yet they’re never going to tattle
And speak of that strange time
When the skies made a deposit
And money did grow on some trees!
